Christchurch Earthquake

Only a matter of days before our scheduled departure our home city of Christchurch was rocked by another violent and devastating earthquake. This time a lower magnitude of 6.3 but closer to the city and shallower, we were sitting at home finishing up loose ends before setting of when the shaking began, violently throwing the contents of our home around, shunting the huge and heavy dining table around that we were huddled under but we are safe and the house came off well. Our thoughts are with our fellow Cantab's in this dark time in New Zealand's history, we feel like we will be abandoning those in need and considered staying behind, but like most we know its going to be a long time before major cleanup and rebuilding begins and will be back in six months to get in and help the rebuild as required. Life must go on and life will return to normal in the future no matter how hard and unlikely it seems now.
