Another late night

Its about time I added another post, there has been plenty going on boat wise since the last post (well at least 3 visits with varying degrees of success). Anyhow its the start of the long weekend, labour weekend to be more exact and it feels like summer is on its way finally. We have our motley crew of four which consists of myself, Emma, dad and Roe, all packed up and heading away from home by just after 4pm. The trip to Kaikoura was pretty uneventful really, a few slow drivers but nothing out of the ordinary, so anyhow we decided to stop and have a proper meal instead of the usual shitty subway or something boring like that so called into one of the pubs that we hadn't visited (not hard, that comment makes me sound like a boozie!). Anyhow I just couldn't go past the $15 steak meal and neither could dad, and it was pretty damn good! Since we were in no hurry at all we took our time, did some people watching, had a drink and finally set off for the second half of the trip. Again nothing really to report, I think we got in around 9:30pm, unloaded everything and stowed away before fixing a few little things and before long it was time to head off into the darkness. We chugged out around 11pm with a quick stop at the fuel dock to take on 60L of diesel to keep the tank near full and then it was follow the markers in the pitch dark. The more I do this at night the more comfortable it gets, I have pretty good mental visuals of the area now and with 3 crew up front with high powered spots lighting up the nearby coastline its easy as. We chugged along without problem and before we knew it we were at our favourite spot for these late nights (Putanui Point mooring), pulled the mooring with ease and before long we were all below having a hot drink before retiring to bed for some well deserved shut eye.
