Pre-Christmas checklist

Back from Havelock and back to the real world unfortunately. However a good weekend and plenty done. We headed off after work on Friday, arrived to the marina around 10:15pm and unpacked a bit before heading to bed. Saturday was a bit gloomy when I woke at 6:45am, but after falling back to sleep until 8:30ish it was much nicer by then. We decided to go to Slip Inn for a cooked breakfast as hadn't really taken anything up with us to eat, after that it was straight to work. Emma was off to get a few groceries for lunches and breakfast the next day, swap the empty gas bottle and look for some other bits and pieces for me. Today we managed to achieve painting around the rear hatch, paint window surrounds on the front hatch and the big wrap around windows. Clean up the rear locker, secure the 4th dive bottle and spare gas bottle, install locking things on the cupboards beside the fridge so we don't end up with 3 drawers sitting on the floor after sailing for all of 2 minutes in anything other than completely flat water. And near the end of the day I got a good coating of 2 pot polyurethane on the front bathroom and rear bathroom counter, by now I had lost a lot of brain cells due to the horrific stink and it was time to head to Blenheim to get a replacement vacuum cleaner and try get away from the smell. We went to the Warehouse and managed to come away with a Soda Stream machine and no vacuum cleaner...go figure! we stopped at a restaurant on the way through but didn't fancy paying near $40 for a main so went to try the Speights Ale House but could not be served for at least 45min so decided to head back to Havelock. We shut the boat up, went for some tea and headed back to the boat for the night. I cleaned up a lot of things, rearranged again while Emma worked on the computer and before long it was near midnight and time for some shut eye.
Sunday was a nice clear morning with beautiful blue sky but still a fresh breeze. Emma cooked a good eggs benedict and then we were back into it, We got the mainsail furling ok, lowered the genoa so I could use the halyard to go up the mast and untangle another halyard. We decided to reroute the hoisting halyard through a series of blocks to the primary winches to try make it easier on Emma. I got the halyard untangled fine, wrapped the spreader ends and came back down. Finally got some of the decals on the hull, with the wind blowing hard we only attempted the stern ones but they came out great! finally a named boat again. After the decals we had a hell of a good tidy up, got rid of all sorts of rubbish again, moved things into more suitable places as it was just going to be us for the trip at Xmas so may as well make use of the space. Before leaving we gave the white paint another coat, also got the polyurethane out again and coated all three counter tops, walls in the bathrooms and front bedroom. Dragged the matress out from our room (forward berth) and loaded it into the car (time to get a custom made one thats more comfortable!). Then it was home time, just after 4pm departure so home in 4 hours and ready for another week of work...
Looking forward to the Xmas trip now, only a few weeks and we are off!
