Let the cleaning begin

So after deciding to move the yacht to Havelock in under 2 weeks the urgency has gone on to get things fixed that have been in the to be fixed pile for all too long. Get things finished which have been dragging on equally as long and finally clean...again. So today after work I guess I only have a few hours too play so figured on something not too time consuming and considering its bloody cold here now it would have to be inside where I can put the heater on. So firstly was the engine bilge again, after Easters debacles the bilge was full of oil and sea water so I had to finish scooping the remaining mixture out and into 20L containers to be taken to the dump for proper disposal. This took a while and after getting the majority of the liquids out I threw a couple of oil absorbing mats in the bottom and had a good wipe around to pickup as much oil as possible, its looking pretty good now. Next task was to start having a clean out, so what better place to start than the chart table, this always seems to be the dumping ground for nic-nacs and I still have not been through the papers in there from when I got her. So I threw out the usual old manuals for things that no longer exist on the boat like the old VHF radio, Loran, life raft and drouges, but there was some really interesting things in there, previous owners had taken all sorts of notes and drawings which might be helpful one day. But anyhow I managed to reduce a full chart table to what now seems near empty. Next task was the port rooms wardrobe...but after just pulling most things out and adding it to the must store somewhere better pile I think its time to go home and get some well overdue dinner. Maybe back tomorrow....
