Lazy Sunday

Well today I managed to get Emma to come out to the boat after What Now, we stopped in Lyttelton township for some chips, corn bites and jam donut which filled the spot well. We headed to the boat and carried the new supplies out there which consisted of 20L diesel oil, 1L outboard oil, 20L antifreeze/summer coolant and a new fuel priming bulb. I got right to work and replaced the fuel bulb which works well (the old one had a broken non return valve in it), then adjusted the alternator bracket before bailing most of the oil out of the bilge from the disastrous easter trip. After getting out 20L and still plenty more in there I gave up until I get more containers and shut the boat up. I fired her up and she ran like a dream, blew a bit of smoke at the start then ran clean as a whistle...and it had plenty of water coming out the back so hopefully no overheating issues. Then we got a visit from Danielle who was coming for some advice as she is heading off next week on a 1100nm trip from Auckland to Fiji in a 68' Swan (sooo jealous of her right now!). Then the work continued, we put the genoa back up and tested the new furling line...works great. Cleaned up below, and stowed all the new oil and antifreeze in the rear locker before cleaning up. I think this old girl is slowly getting into healthy shape! most of the core workings are getting the well needed overhaul and are in working order. A lot of the work to get done is mainly cosmetic like finishing the topsides. Hopefully all going well we can have a lovely couple of weeks away at Christmas time this year.....fingers crossed!
