Inport Gisborne
It was nice to have a sleep in today, other than getting up early this morning to have a look at why there was suddenly a big bang. Checked all the ropes and they seemed fine, turns out that the springer was a bit loose and in the huge winds we are getting it stretched enough and the bow touched the dock (thank god there was rubber edge on the dock). So yeah, had a good cooked breakfast of english muffins, eggs and bacon. Spend the morning cleaning thoroughly and finally cleaned my head (bathroom for all the non-boaties) with bleach as it was pretty gross in there, and wow it looks and spells so much better. Walked into town again and got some more s/steel hose clamps to replace corroded and broken ones on engine (so we dont have any more issues like yesterday). Went for a look at the electical wholesaler for a new zealand shore plug but decided against it until we get home. Came back to the boat, and checked over the engine again and found it had no oil now and the bilge was full - managed to track it to a leaking seal on the oil filter so replaced that, new oil and scooped several litres of oil out the bilge. Then enptied stored diesel into the main tanks and refilled the jerry cans. It would be nice if the wind slowed down a bit from the constant 25-40kn it keeps blowing (and thats in the sheltered harbour here, I would hate to think what its like in the bay our out past the heads in the open ocean). So as I write this we are thinking about what to cook for tea and hoping that the wind drops soon so we can get out of here. Update for 7pm - still blowing a gale here, the boats rocking around a bit and everything is flapping outside....come on wind die off a bit. A nice constand 15-20kn would be nice for tomorrow.
