The DVD player dramas
Considering it was supposed to be raining it was not a bad morning, but looking at the forcast and the surrounding clouds we quickly got into action and sealed along the starboard toe rail in anticipation for the rain to come. Not long after sealing up we were getting a few spots of rain and before long we were into a decent downpour. We both retired downstairs and shut the boat up where needed. Emma sat down and watched a movie on her tablet while I finished the USA to NZ plug replacements and then tackled the job of replacing the circuit breakers on the mains voltage panel, upon removing a whole lot of wires I discovered that the breakers there currently are actually rated to 250V so what burned and turned everything in there black with soot? Turns out that is was only the small LED indicator lights that were only rated to 110V so after reconnecting what I had taken off and also removing the charred led lights it was the process of working out what wire does what and creates what circuit. So Emma ran around the boat plugging in an iPhone and charger to see what went live. We eventually worked everything out and the whole boat was up and running with 240V! yay power! So now I just need to try credit back the breakers I bought. After being stuck inside most of the day we ventured out to Lower Hutt to look at a new DVD player for the boat and after nearly 2 hours had managed to go from a basic $29 DVD player to a nice $150 Blu-Ray player, however the only 3 available were ex display models which was fine except after 15mins looking the shop assistant could not find the remote so we ended up leaving with nothing…how did that happen? I guess it doesn’t matter, we didn’t really need it. It was back to the boat and time for some tea, we had the most amazing steak from the supermarket and even though Emz overcooked it a tad it was still so tender. Evening was again spend watching House M.D. I think we might get through season 7 pretty quick at this rate?!?.
