I had set an alarm the previous night as we had all decided to get on the move at a decent time today, however as usual when on holiday I woke up early (probably due to the shock of actually seeing sunshine streaming through the hatch!), anyhow we hopped up, cleaned things away and promptly dropped the mooring ball before motoring out into the open sea. Without a confirmed plan we were going to wait on the wind direction as to whether we turned left or right, a left turn would take us to Mill Arm but as it turned out we turned right and decided to go back to our spot at Whareata Bay. The journey north was horrendous again with big rollers of 2-3 beam on lurching the boat all over the show and once again making Emma very ill, the rounding of the top of D’Urville between Stephens Island was also pretty bad with 4+m waves and an incredibly confused sea state with currents and seas meeting up to make bizarre calm spots and massive breaking waves, I was incredibly happy to see that behind us and as we got further away the sea became a flat calm with a nice 10-15kn beam reach all the way to the mooring.
Once we arrived we had some lunch and played a bit of Rummikub before Dad got back into his fishing and managed to get another couple of decent Blue Cod for dinner. Emma relaxed and I pulled my spare octi apart to find out why it was passing air yesterday (turn
