Easter/ANZAC - Day 10: Yncyca Bay - Putanui Point - Havelock Marina

As I awoke today with my head in what can only be described as awkward (somehow my IMG_8597pillows manage to have a nightly migration up the wall so my neck ends up bending some un-humanly way to stay on them, anyhow not comfortable and end result is a headache in the morning!) Anyhow I digress…the sun was shining and streaming into the boat but the air was fresh and getting up was difficult until Emma pulled the covers off me. We all got up and Emma and I cooked eggs benedict, we cleaned up, played some games and made a relaxing departure from the beautiful mooring spot around lunch time and cruised our way to Putanui Point mooring where we would wait a few hours until the tide was enough we could sneak in before darkness fell. Emma and I cooked a lasagne for a late lunch, sunbathed, played games, and music until 4:30pm when it was time to head off. We started the motor and were about to drop the mooring line when the motor died suddenly and refused to start again….it turns over fine but not starting….shit! we raced below, opened the engine covers and I soon found the problem, the bolt holding the main flywheel on had fallen out, the pully was loose and the keyway was near out, in the act of all this the crankshaft had gone out of alignment with the pulley drive and hence no start. After much fuss we got it back together and she started fine, although it sounds different and somewhat noisier it ran ok, temp was fine and oil fine so who knows. By this time we were an hour late and would be racing time to get in while it was light. After making our way through the marked channel and into the marina we had lost all sun and it was pretty dark. The saving grace was it was dead calm and the berthing went without a hitch. We plugged in, grabbed our shower gear and headed for the club rooms for a fantastic shower. Then off to the Slip Inn for a good pizza, beer and to relax in the warmth. After Dad and I stuffed ourselves silly we headed to the boat and played a couple of rounds of Rummikub before watching Surrogates (interesting movie, nothing to write home about but filled in time I guess). Followed closely by another couple of rounds of Rummikub before heading to bed. Tomorrow will be a clean up and head home…sadly.
