We motored out of the marina after a bit of issue with the gear shifter cable but we will not go into details, nothing broke and we hit nothing so lets leave it at that (and thanks to all those in the marina that helped with lines and boat hooks). It was our turn to request a bridge opening for Las Olas bridge and after a few attempts at calling they finally opened her for us and we steamed through. A good 15 minutes later we came to the monster 17th Street bridge and not long after she opened for us and another couple of yachts transiting through then it was off into the Atlantic for the ride South to our first stop, Key Largo. After a long sail we spend the first night anchored in what seemed like the middle of the Atlantic as the area is so shallow and we can not get close to shore. We all jumped off the boat and had a swim and snorkel but nothing much too see except sand, the visibility was good though, the water was warm and it felt so good to have a swim after such a long day.
