People you meet

We have been staying at a little resort that
s slightly out of the way, but despite a few peculiar choices the owners make here (ie don't turn the heater on in the pool coz its the Bahamas and its warm, and limiting the paper towels around here) I have been quite pleased with our choice of accommodation. There is both rooms and a marina here so we have been spending most of our evenings in a little common area chatting, drinking, shooting pool and sharing stories. The people we have met have been great fun and always up for a laugh.

On Wednesday night a big group of is went to The Fish Fry which is held on the beach every Wednesday night right next to Taino Beach Park. Several restaurants engage in a typical native cookout and then there is dancing on the beach. There is so much food cooked in several different areas. You can line up and go and eat on the beach or a little restaurant Da’ Bus Stop, a bus actually stopped there and couldn’t go anymore, so they built the restaurant in front of it. We went to Da' Bus stop and had an amazing meal.

We were planning to take the bikes again and bike down to a local restaurant to find some dinner, rather than paying $20 for yet another taxi to get to Port Lucaya. But one of the couples who is staying in the marina here, Jim and Carol, took pity on us and offered to cook us dinner. So we stayed in the common area and ate and had some drinks there. We have had a great night, so thanks for tea guys, much appreciated it. Check out there blog here. I can only hope that everyone else we meet along the way are as nice as the people we have met so far.

Anyway tomorrow we are off to get a car and explore the island!
