Pump and tanks new home and one of the buckets of filth! |
So since today is not the best, its not raining but its not the beautiful sunny weather from the past 4 days so I took that as a sign to head below and start to tackle the problem of the smelly bilge. Now in here is another bad smell that will outlast religion, its a concoction of water and diesel, and to add to that it looks like the diesel has grown a gluggy skin. So I ripped up the table, the floor and seat boards to access the storage areas. It is also a good time to replumb some things that annoyed the hell out of me. Firstly, the water pressure pump is just crammed into a storage space and ruins that whole area so I pulled it out and mounted it and the accumulator tank in the adjacent storage hole and on the 'wall'. Also time to pull out the bilge pump, foot valve and the mass of horrible old pipes that are mostly redundant and time to put in a nice new automatic bilge pump and new hose...but thats tomorrows job. Anyhow I carried on tidying up loose wires dangling everywhere, then scrubbing the bilge and flushing with clean water, its already looking a lot better.
