Today was a bit unclear on the weather front and I could not decide whether to leave tonight or wait until the morning, either way we had food shopping to do and a rental car to return. We got all of our washing done and last food shop done before returning the car right on 4pm when we had it booked until, the man from the rental car company gave us a lift to the bus stop where we had missed the last bus by a matter of minutes (and it being a public holiday could not get any other bus or train anywhere near we wanted to go), after failing to raise a local friend to try scab a ride back we took the only option we had and that was a taxi…so after a painfully slow ride (I am sure they drive slow so it costs you more) we arrived at the marina and were out of pocket $60 for that joy! Anyhow no point complaining as we had no other choice. Soon after we showered up, untied ourselves from the dock and were motoring our was out of Wellington harbor. We were leaving the same time as a huge cruise ship and the interislander ferry so got to watch those monsters steam along and off into the sunset. Not long out of the harbor we were getting 3m swells and Emma was into seasick mode, looking whiter and whiter with every passing wave, then after a few hours the engine kept dying off to nearly a stall and then spring back into life…this wasn’t a good start to the trip. I investigated and found it was getting starved of fuel, I turned off the engine, took off the fuel filter and checked it, reattached and reprimed. This kept us going for a couple of hours until it happened again, then after the same fix we were good for another few hours, was this going to be like this the whole way home?!?. But we kept on going into the night…
