Well after a rough night and laying awake for a while thinking 'I hope there is a big block of concrete on the bottom of this mooring" I awoke refreshed and the day looked a lot nicer than the night that preceded it and it looked like we might get to do some more relaxed sailing today...but now i'm just getting ahead of myself. Lets start with the most important thing, breakfast! I was again the chef and made a rather large helping of pancakes with bacon, caramelized banana, berries and maple syrup...to die for!! we soon pulled the anchor and got underway and decided early on we would head for Kenepuru Sound as it gave us a shorter hop to the marina the following day. We had some decent wind behind us and threw full sail up and sailed all the way into Kenepuru Sound which was quite good as for a change the wind played nice and followed us around, normally it follows you on the nose and makes sailing near impossible. After just entering Kenepuru we had the police/fisheries boat pull up beside us and ask a whole lot of questions before carrying onto the next boat, nothing of interest on our boat for them so they left us to be but I still got nervous. Another hour or so we motored up the sound and decided to stop at the nothern point of Double Bay which seemed ok but was a bit of a shit spot now that I look back but oh well. Soon after stopping Zac and I donned the wetsuit and jumped into the water and were off looking for mussels on the nearby rocks and had far better luck today and managed to get a good 50-60 between us so had one hell of a good feed when we got back onboard, still no luck finding paua but I have no idea what i'm looking for anyway! After settling in below for the night we had a cookup for tea, finished off the outstanding box of beer and some RTD's Zac had brought and played kings and assholes until our eyes were straining to stay open and on that note it was time to retire for the night....or was it? We had the anchor alarm go off in the night and Dad and I rushed up top with the torch to have a look, we were pretty bloody close but still in enough water...maybe it just looked closer at night? well back to bed again.
