Labour Weekend here we come
Well I am counting the days to the long weekend, and even longer weekend as I am taking an extra couple of days off. I decided to take the Thursday off so I could pack my bags, do food shopping, pickup the squabs that are getting recovered, fill Jerry cans with diesel and petrol, make sure I have taken everything etc etc...and some good but bad news, Emma is finally getting her sinus operation but its on Wednesday so she may not be able to come on the trip but I am crossing my fingers she is feeling up to it as I have been looking forward to getting away for a trip with her for ages now but hey I prefer she gets well and the 7 odd month headache goes away. As for other crew I am taking Dad, so fingers crossed we have no problems as both trips he has been on seems to be plagued with some sort of problem and usually bad weather and gear failure to the n'th degree. Also coming is Zac who is our work experience boy and his girlfriend so hopefully they both enjoy it (I know Zac is looking forward to a good fishing weekend so lets hope we get a good snapper or something). So basic plan is to leave afternoon of Thursday, drive to Havelock with a stope for dinner in Kaikoura, load the boat up, have the last decent shower for a few days then head off late that night to catch the high tide. Looking to anchor for the night around Putanui point (which is the point separating Mahau Sound and Kenepuru Sound) and only 6nm from the marina. As for Fri, Sat, Sun and Mon who knows where we will be, we will see who the final crew is and what the weather is to determine the trips we take each day. So stay tuned as going to be a few posts coming up....
